Initiative's organizational mission, vision, purpose and goals. It
also provides background on childhood overweight and obesity in San
Diego County as well as a brief history and summary of our
Plan emphasizes policy and environmental strategies with
the greatest potential impact on childhood obesity; these
strategies recognize that it is easier for individuals to make
healthy choices to reduce and prevent childhood obesity when the
physical and social environment in which they live supports these
Plan outlines the mission, vision, purpose and goals of
the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative. It serves as a
compass for the development and planning of all San Diego County
Childhood Obesity Initiative activities and highlights the recent
achievements of each domain workgroup.
The Leadership Council is comprised of public and private leaders
engaged in childhood obesity prevention activities. The Council
directs the activities of the San Diego County Childhood Obesity
Initiative and its domains, and monitors the Initiative's
implementation of the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Action
