Council Summary:

Faith Advisory Councils are comprised of faith leaders and community agencies from throughout San Diego County.  These regionally-based workgroups operate within the framework of the Community Domain, and currently convene in the North County and South Bay. Faith Advisory Councils are designed to support faith leaders in modeling healthy practices and advocating for improvements in the food and physical activity environment. Regular meetings provide faith leaders a venue for learning about childhood obesity, networking, connecting to and sharing resources, and developing community-based, policy and environmental solutions to childhood obesity.

In alignment with the Community Domain (Domain), Faith Advisory Councils work cooperatively with COI partners to promote the adoption of healthy policy and environmental changes recommended as part of the Community Domain strategies. For a complete overview of this domain's objectives and activities, click here.

Accomplishments:

  • Creating faith advisory councils.
